Pay Per Click Marketing (PPC) (instant response traffic)
Pay per click ads are the featured text ads at the top and right hand side of search engine result pages.
The PPC advertiser pays a predetermined amount of money per click to the search engine.
Advertisers bid on niche keywords and phrases and the highest bid usually receives the best position on the search engine results page.
Most PPC programs also have an option where ads show up on websites as well as in the search engines.
Google Adwords, Yahoo search marketing, MSN Adcenter, 7search and Adbrite are the main PPC websites.
Tips for using PPC ads:
1. If you're giving away free stuff say so in the title. Then people know what to expect.
2. Capitalize the first letter of each word.
3. Test 10 ad variations.
4. Track clickthroughs and signups with a third party tracker such as 1startcart.com
5. Set a daily budget you can afford.
6. Bid for position #2 to avoid nuisance clicking.
7. Bid low on hundreds or thousands of keywords.
8. Set daily budgets. It's easy to get carried away and amass a huge bill.
9. Learn about it before you jump in.
